The Freeths Corporate team advised a number of the shareholders of three industry-leading environmental companies (Environmental Monitoring Solutions Limited, Ecus Limited and Envirocare Technical Consultancy Limited) on a significant investment from Palatine Private Equity into the newly merged Cura Terrae group.

Cura Terrae, which means 'take care of the earth' in Latin, aims to build a leading, nationwide, environmental services and consultancy business that will enable each respective company to increase the support that they provide to their current and future clients.  The consolidation of shared central services such as marketing, HR and finance will help drive synergies across the group and further support each of the environmental companies with their growth under Cura Terrae.Undoubtedly, bringing the businesses together under Cura Terrae will see the group flourish within the UK environmental consultancy market, which shows no sign of slowing down.

Over the coming months, Cura Terrae is anticipated to grow and broaden its service offering with strategic, complementary acquisitions as it advances with its 'Buy and Build' strategy.

Andy Francey, who led the Freeths' team on the transaction, commented: “After over 10 years working with EMS and ECUS and their respective management teams, it has been great to help bring the businesses together under the Cura Terrae brand following the investment from Palatine.  We look forward to continuing to support Cura Terrae on the next phase of the journey, including supporting the business with its buy and build strategy.  Cura Terrae will no doubt go from strength to strength!”Cura Terrae

Sara Blannin, Cura Terrae's CFO, expressed that:The support of Freeths throughout the transaction was invaluable.  Each member of the Freeths' team took the time to understand and implement our objectives and guide us through the complexities.”CEO Professor Peter Skipworth explains that: “Our mission at Cura Terrae is to take care of the earth. We believe that businesses have an obligation to solve the climate crisis and Cura Terrae will help them meet and maintain environmental standards across land, air and water.”Palatine

James Gregson, Impact Fund Partner, said: “Cura Terrae is an outstanding purpose-led business and a trusted partner of many industry-leading companies across the UK. We have known the team for a number of years and are delighted to be working with Pete and the team to support the strategy for growth.Cura Terrae's mission-driven approach is one that aligns perfectly with Palatine's Impact Fund and the long-term commitment to place purpose, sustainability and responsible investment at the heart of our strategy."
