Support for former patients of Anaesthetist at Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Hospitals convicted of sexual misconduct and assault
Recent reports have highlighted a deeply troubling case involving an anaesthetist at Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire hospitals who has been imprisoned for sexual misconduct.
News of this conviction raises significant concerns and questions about patient safety and the standards of care within these hospitals where this anaesthetist was practicing.
Dr Edward Finn, the anaesthetist in question, has been charged with sexually assaulting children whilst they were being treated by him, as well as other crimes which represent a grave violation of those patient’s personal dignity and safety. This shocking report is likely to have enormous implications for those affected individuals and their families.
The allegations have prompted an urgent review of hospital protocols and patient safeguarding measures.
The offences were committed between July 2015 and November 2023, but it is unclear how long Dr Finn was employed at each hospital and how many other patients may have been affected.
