National law firm Freeths has advised UK-based private equity firm Mobeus on its investment in Ellis Recruitment Group ("Ellis"), a specialist IT recruitment consultancy serving the Global Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) resourcing market.

Mobeus will be a significant minority shareholder in Ellis, providing strategic guidance and further funding to the business as it accelerates its growth in Europe and the US.

Funding comes from Mobeus' latest UK-focused small-cap buyout fund, Mobeus V, and represents its sixth investment. Founded in 2010 by Jason Howlett and Rory Dwyer, subsequently joined by Sean Flynn and Mark Thomas, Ellis has grown to become a specialist leader in Oracle and SAP consultant placements. Operating under distinct brands, Ellis has established a strong presence in Europe and North America, utilising its proprietary database of enterprise software consultants to cater to clients across various industries and geographies.

Corporate Finance Partner Dahren Naidoo, who led the Freeths team on this transaction, said: “We are delighted to have provided advice here which further demonstrates our credentials in the recruitment investment sector and of course our wider private equity credentials.”

The wider Freeths team consisted of Partners James Dyson and Adrian Hackett, Managing Associate Fiona Woodhead and Associates Farrell Tang and Niamh Hogg.
