Freeths advises on the sale of leading manufacturer of electron microscopes Tescan
Freeths advises on the sale of Tescan Orsay Holding (“Tescan”), a leading manufacturer of electron microscopes and other high-tech scientific instruments, headquartered in the Czech Republic, to newly founded Czech company Glass BidCo a.s. Freeths advises the sellers alongside Czech law firm JŠK, advokátní kancelář, s.r.o.
Formed in 2013, Tescan operates from 14 sites across the world, including two production facilities in Brno, Czech Republic, and Fuveau, France, which are responsible for its end-to-end in-house production, and has over 750 employees globally. The Carlyle Group’s investment will support Tescan's growth plan through the development of new products and further internationalising of the business.
The Freeths team was led by Corporate Partner Francis Dalton, Managing Associates Matthew Cooper, and Naomi Spring. They were supported by Matthew Switzer and Claire Boyce. The team at JŠK was led by Tomáš Doležil who was supported by Klára Šmídová and Patrik Müller.
Francis Dalton said: “We were delighted to work with our partners at JŠK to assist the sellers of Tescan with this great transaction across numerous jurisdictions. It is a great example of Freeths’ international private equity team delivering complex transactions in the technology sector.”
