Freeths advises Red Oak on acquisition of 19 pubs

National law firm Freeths has advised Red Oak Taverns on the acquisition of 19 tenanted pubs from Marston’s PLC.

This is the third transaction between the two businesses in the past 15 months, bringing the total number of pubs acquired from Marston’s by Red Oak to 26.

Red Oak was co-founded by Aaron Brown and Mark Grunnell in 2011. This deal has secured a 246 portfolio for the firm nationally. Other acquisitions over this time have been completed with St Austell, Everards and McMullens.

This purchase will see Red Oak able to continue growing their national presence.

Leading the deal on behalf of Freeths were Managing Associates Gary Munro and Selina Norris. They were supported by Partner Christopher Ainsworth.

Commenting on the deal, Christopher said: “We are delighted to have acted for Red Oak Taverns on their latest portfolio acquisition. Congratulations to the Red Oak team and we look forward to assisting with their future growth plans.”

Graeme Bunn, Property and acquisition Director at Red Oak Taverns, added: “Enormous thanks to everyone in the Red Oak Taverns team who worked tirelessly to get this deal done, including Gary Munro and Selina Norris of Freeths, and David Sutcliffe and Anthony Barnes of Fleurets.”
