Freeths announces 81 promotions in 2025

Leading law firm Freeths has announced its latest round of promotions, with over 80 elevating their roles across the business including nine new partners. 

In the last five years, Freeths’ talented people have continuously been recognised for their dedication to clients, with a significant number of promotions across the firm’s 13 offices annually.

As a certified B Corporation™, the business is also committed to creating an inclusive workplace which ensures equality and is reflected in 50% of those promoted in 2025 being women.

Freeths’ partner promotions for 2025:

In Nottingham, Freeths’ longest established office, Jade Flint in the commercial dispute resolution team, who has worked tirelessly to obtain fair redress for those affected by the Post Office scandal, and private client dispute resolution lawyer Rachel Gaffney who has been recommended by Chambers & Partners this year as an “incredible lawyer”.

Milton Keynes, corporate lawyer Natalie Drought and tax expert Matthew Switzer both moved up the ladder. 

Award-winning Mohammed Abbas, corporate lawyer based in Birmingham, has been promoted after consistently displaying significant success in M&A work for high-profile clients across the region. 

Matthew Kelly, based in the restructuring and insolvency team in Manchester was recognised for his outstanding leadership, client focus, and getting results on challenging contentious work across the entire scope of personal and corporate insolvency. 

In Oxford, Lisa Mark-Bell has been recognised for her extensive work for high-net worth clients in relation to their estate planning, in particular for those with businesses and agricultural property, as well as her work with complex trusts and landed estates.

The Sheffield office saw Toby Pochron in employment and Ciaran Dearden in commercial dispute resolution promoted on the strength of their excellent reputations for high calibre work and dedication to their clients.
