Carolyn Lowe

Carolyn represents children with cerebral palsy, or who are brain damaged as a result of negligent care at the time of their birth. She has helped to claim monies to help with future care and adaptations to homes.

Recent Work

• £5 million, comprising of a lump sum together with yearly payments for life, for an 8 year old boy who suffered severe brain damage at birth due to negligent medical care at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. He has cerebral palsy and requires 24 hour care. The monies will go towards his future care and an adapted home.

• Obtained compensation of £850,000 for a woman who suffered a delay in diagnosis and treatment of cauda equina syndrome.

• Represented a woman who suffered severe damage to her shoulder as a result of a failure to diagnose and properly treat a bone infection at Milton Keynes Hospital. A settlement of £200,000 was achieved.
• Achieved a £750,000 settlement for a man whose claim related to negligent knee surgery. This left him with severe, permanent pain and being likely to require an amputation.
• £65,000 for a woman, after her sigmoid colon was sutured into her vaginal wall during a hysterectomy. She underwent further surgical procedures, developed faecal peritonitis and would always suffer from abdominal and rectal pain.
• Settlement of £50,000 for the parents of a baby who died at only two days old as a result of the mismanagement of his mother’s labour at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
• Settlement of £500,000 for a man who has suffered permanent damage to his heart after his GP failed to deal adequately with symptoms of endocarditis, a severe infection of the heart.
• Achieved a settlement of £100,000 for the bereaved parents of a stillborn child following negligent care at The John Radcliffe Hospital.

Carolyn has helped to achieve settlements for bereaved parents whose babies have died as a result of negligent care or the mismanagement of their mother’s labour.
