Chris advises on all aspects of town and country planning law with extensive experience in the coordination of large scale and contentious development proposals, including student accommodation and residential development at regeneration sites and greenfield sites, along with vast experience in the preparation and negotiation of Planning Obligations and in regularly advising on CPO, CIL, enforcement, judicial review and EIA development.
Chris regularly acts for national and leading regional developers, landowners, local authorities and other interested parties.
Chris is a legal associate of the RTPI.

Recent Work
- 38 storey co-living scheme in Sheffield – secured permission for original scheme in 2020 and, following the downturn in the economy, have successfully assisted with the removal of affordable housing obligations and securing permission for revised proposals, determined following public inquiry, to ensure that the scheme could now be delivered.
- 13 storey mosque in Brent – advised on the submission of proposals for a new mosque and community centre in Brent
- 28 storey plus ground floors purpose built student accommodation – advised on the submission of proposals for large scale purpose built student accommodation in Nottingham city centre which comprised Environmental Impact Assessment Development
- Regularly advise on s106 agreements and other planning obligations including for schemes at application and appeal stage
- Regularly advise on CIL liability for development proposals including in relation to self-build and social housing exemptions as well as liability pursuant to market residential development
- Acted for claimants and defendants in relation to claims submitted for judicial review of planning decisions.
