About Deborah

Deborah is a specialist energy projects lawyer with over 14 years of sector specific legal experience. She advises on contractual, regulatory and transactional energy matters across a range of renewable and clean technologies including rooftop and ground mounted solar, onshore wind, battery storage, hydrogen, hydro, anaerobic digestion and biomass. Her clients range from investors and developers to energy companies, innovative market access providers, and corporate end users. She also supports a number of electric vehicle clients in relation to the energy aspects of their projects.

Deborah is particularly well known for her work advising on route to market arrangements, including corporate PPAs and asset optimisation structures. She brings to this workstream a background in energy retail, which she gained during the four years she spent as in-house counsel for international energy company, ENGIE.

Deborah joined the Freeths Clean Energy team in February 2024 from Osborne Clarke LLP, where she spent over 9 years advising on energy projects and co-led the firms international Energy Innovation group.

She is listed as a Recommended Lawyer and recognised as a Next Generation Partner in The Legal 500 in the 2025 edition.
