About Fiona

Fiona is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in the IP & Media team at Freeths.

Fiona works with clients to help manage their brands: from giving advice on the availability to use and register a new brand, through to obtaining trade mark registrations in the UK and worldwide. She also manages contentious matters before the UKIPO such as oppositions, revocations and applications for invalidity, often in conjunction with parallel court proceedings or settlement negotiations. Fiona advises clients in a wide range of sectors including automotive, food and drink, retail, fashion and construction.

In addition, Fiona also advises clients on anti-counterfeiting matters, including filing AFAs (Applications for Action) with the UK Border Force (or the equivalent in other countries), managing suspected counterfeit seizures made by Border Force and taking enforcement action against counterfeiters.

Fiona studied English Language and Linguistics at the University of Aberdeen. She also has a Masters in Forensic Linguistics from Aston University. She joined the IP & Media team at Freeths as a Legal Assistant and took the Trade Marks Law and Practice course at the Queen Mary University of London, as well as the Professional Certificate in Trade Mark Practice course at Nottingham Law School. Fiona qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2020.
