About Gregg
Gregg Parkin specialises in Dispute Resolution and Insolvency. In particular, Gregg has significant expertise in high-value disputes in the automotive sector and complex insurance disputes, as well as professional negligence claims against an array of different professionals.
Gregg is a Solicitor Advocate and has qualified with Higher Rights of Audience meaning that he is able to appear as an advocate in the High Court and above.
Gregg has experience in a range of matters including insurance, professional negligence, breach of contract, partnership disputes and property disputes. He has experience in High Court and County Court litigation acting for both claimants and defendants, as well as experience in the First-Tier Property Tribunal.

Gregg recently acted for Defendants to High Court litigation concerning an Option Agreement for the sale and purchase of the entire issued share capital in a Dutch entity. Gregg successfully defended the majority of the claim brought against the Defendants at first instance in the reported judgment of Aymes International Ltd v Nutrition4U B.V. and others [2023] EWHC 2672 (Ch).

Expertise and experience:
- Acting in a High Court business interruption insurance claim concerning the impact of COVID-19 in the Commercial Court, allocated to the sub-list of cases managed by Butcher and Cockerill JJ.
- Securing a favourable pre-action resolution in a dispute concerning the wording of a professional indemnity policy in which coverage had initially been denied but as a result of Gregg’s Letter of Claim was reinstated with coverage for an underlying claim in the sum of £2million.
- Acting in a property damage insurance dispute concerning a Public House in the West Midlands which was destroyed as a result of arson.
- Acting in a property damage insurance dispute concerning a fire at a poultry farm in Derbyshire caused by a faulty generator, which destroyed the farm and the livestock.
- Acting in a claim for an indemnity concerning the theft of a high-value Aston Martin, in which liability is contested.
- Acting in Court proceedings in a claim brought by an insurer against a private individual in which the return of an indemnity paid for the theft of a Audi motor vehicle is sought on the grounds of alleged deceit in making the insurance claim.
- Acting in a pre-action insurance dispute concerning business interruption to a manufacturing business caused by the loss of electricity sue to a substation failure.
- Acting in relation to a £3.5million claim for business interruption insurance losses arising out of the impacts of COVID-19.
- Acting in relation to a breach of an indemnity under an insurance policy relating to property damage.
- Gregg regularly acts in high-value automotive disputes for some of the largest dealerships in the country, concerning prestigious and high class supercars. Gregg has a wealth of expertise in consumer and trader law in defending spurious claims for the rejection of vehicles pursuant to the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- Gregg also acts for many other clients in the automotive and sport sector, including motorsport racing teams, wholesalers of vehicle parts and second hand car dealerships. Gregg also acts for rental car companies, operating at the high-value end.

- A professional negligence claim against a firm of solicitors relating to a failure to issue a claim before the limitation period expired, with complex issues surrounding quantum.
- A professional negligence claim against a firm of solicitors for an amount in excess of £1million in relation to an investment transaction, with elements of civil fraud.
- Acting in a professional negligence claim against solicitors arising out of a negligently prepared Report of Title which caused significant loss to the client, with complex issues on causation.
- Acting in a professional negligence claim against an accountant arising from negligent bookkeeping, which caused significant loss to the client and which resulted in the loss of chance to sell the business.
- Advising on a professional negligence claim against an architect arising from the negligent design of a small private hospital, which caused significant defects to the property.
- Acting in relation to a claim in excess of £1million against a firm of solicitors relating to professional negligence in advising a client in relation to an investment transaction, with elements of civil fraud.
