About Hal
Hal is a seasoned restructuring lawyer with a wealth of experience in handling complex insolvency matters. Hal joined the team in May 2024 from an international firm and has experience advising on a wide range of high-profile restructuring mandates.
Hal primarily focusses on non-contentious transactional restructuring work across a number of sectors, but has experience of contentious matters, including on individual insolvency matters. Hal advises insolvency practitioners, directors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders on a wide range of restructuring matters, focusing particularly on turnaround and distressed M&A and has experience of formal corporate insolvency processes such as administrations, liquidations and voluntary arrangements.
Hal has also undertaken a secondment working in-house in the legal team of a major clearing bank, supporting the bank’s business support teams with day-to-day restructuring queries.

Acting for the buyer in the acquisition out of administration of a national biofuels business, including negotiation of a complex sale and various aspects of due diligence

Advised the administrators of a hotel business, including on their appointment and strategy for the disposal of the assets of the company, which including an historic 12th century country hall, alongside dealing with various issues around unlawful occupation of the property

Acted for the liquidators of a jewellery business on asset recoveries including progressing claims worth in excess of £12 million relating to misfeasance, wrongful trading and antecedent transactions.
