About Ilma
Ilma is an Associate in the Restructuring and Insolvency Team in Freeths’ Sheffield office. Ilma joined the team in December 2019 and, following the completion of her training contract, qualified as an Associate in June 2024. She has experience in both corporate restructuring and insolvency matters.
Ilma advises a wide range of stakeholders involved in insolvency and restructuring matters, including insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporate clients and directors. She regularly advises on corporate insolvency processes, including administrations and liquidations and individual insolvency processes.
Ilma advises insolvency practitioners and other companies’ stakeholders on various aspects including but not limited to:
- contingency planning to corporate entities and directors’ duties advice;
- the pre-appointment stage of the administration process;
- pre-pack administration sale of business and assets;
- claims against directors and other parties including misfeasance, antecedent transactions and wrongful trading;
- security validity review;
- applications within insolvency proceedings; and
- debt recovery and enforcement action
Ilma has also worked for a UK-leading insolvency practitioners’ firm as a legal claims administrators supporting them with investigations and claims against the directors and other parties.

- Distinction in the LLB Bachelor of Laws in Laws with English Law and European Legal Studies

Ilma has experience in corporate and personal insolvency matters, undertaking contentious and non-contentious work.
- Acting for the administrators of a diversified investment holding company on a number of complex issues in the administrations including the stocks trading on an international stock exchange, the validity of security and the realisations of the group’s assets
- Acting for lenders in relation to security review, a loan buy-out and enforcement advice which included appointment of fixed charge receivers over multiple properties
- Acting for one of the largest UK’s franchise companies in relation to franchise companies’ restructuring
- Advising and preparing court applications within insolvency proceedings including but not limited to administration period extensions and remuneration applications
- Advising and preparing court application for an order for possession and sale on behalf of joint trustees in bankruptcy
