About Joelle

Joelle Mak joined the Freeths Oxford Court of Protection team in May 2024.

Prior to joining Freeths, Joelle completed her training contract in August 2023 in a London firm, having undertaken seats in Matrimonial Finance, Private Children, Residential Conveyancing, Private Client and Court of Protection law. Joelle has varied experience assisting mentally incapacitated adults and children, and mentally incapacitated elderly individuals to manage their property and affairs through professional deputyships.

Joelle is enthusiastic about helping clients and their families and is committed to providing her clients with the highest level of legal assistance. She is particularly skilled in helping elderly people navigate complex and challenging circumstances. She is experienced in working closely with other professionals including independent social workers, guardians, and financial advisers as well as medical professionals. Joelle is a compassionate and understanding lawyer who is committed to putting her clients’ needs first.

Joelle obtained her Law degree from the University of Surrey, before completing the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Guildford. Joelle is native in Cantonese and fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Outside of work, Joelle is passionate in volunteering and assists on settlement and integration of new immigrants, she has conducted webinars in Cantonese about the English legal system. Joelle holds qualification for Mental Health First Aid, Community Interpretation, First Aid and Level 2 Food Safety.
