Notable work & expertise
Richard recently acted for a client against a third party who was alleging patent infringement and who had instigated Amazon’s intellectual property infringement policy to have the client’s products removed from sale from the Amazon platform. Since a significant portion of the client’s business was being affected by the removal of their products from Amazon, there was a requirement to act quickly to avoid potentially catastrophic effects on the client’s business. Richard expediently and successfully defended the client’s position against the infringement allegations leading to the client’s products being reinstated on Amazon and obtained substantial damages for the client.
In order to reduce the threat, from the patent holder, of any future allegations, Richard also successfully argued against the validity of the patent before the UKIPO and obtained an opinion from the UKIPO that the patent was invalid.
