Notable work & expertise
Recent Work
- Acting for a construction company on several multi-million pound disputes. One project relates to works carried out to a Grade II listed Jacobean manor, which is the subject of allegations of defective works by the employer. The matter is the subject of a final account arbitration including the alleged defective works, delay and loss of profit. During the course of the arbitration, the employer issued an adjudication seeking declarations and damages of c.£2 million. We identified deficiencies in the employer’s case, succeeded in persuading the adjudicator of the merits of our client’s case, and saved the client over £1.8 million
- Acting for a multi-national land and marine defence manufacturer in relation to a number of disputes with its main contractor relating to industrial assembly buildings at its UK headquarters. The final account dispute, which concerned loss and expense arising out of various disruption claims, was the subject of a mediation in which we achieved a payment to our client of hundreds of thousands of pounds in damages
